We are all mammals

Inclusive leadership begins with recognising that our brains naturally rely on shortcuts and assumptions. The responsibility of leadership is to move beyond those automatic reactions and create environments where people are evaluated on their contribution rather than on what feels familiar. I think the goal of diversity and inclusion is not to change human nature, it is to create experiences that gradually transform the unfamiliar into the familiar. And when that happens, curiosity begins to replace fear, and understanding replaces assumption. What role do you think leaders play in helping people move from instinctive reactions to intentional inclusion?
