You cannot dismantle something you are unwilling to examine. So, if you genuinely want to change, start by looking at the assumptions behind your reactions:
What are you noticing?
What are you overlooking?
Who do you instinctively trust?
Who do you give the benefit of the doubt to?
Who makes you feel comfortable, and who makes you feel uncertain?
Acknowledging bias doesn’t make you a bad person. I think it makes you more aware of the forces that influence your decisions, and awareness is where the work begins.
